This scroll is specially designed to mirror a famous ceiling mural in a Dunhuang cave shrine. Dunhuang cave murals are located on the western end in Gansu Province, China. This specific ceiling mural was copied from a mural titled "Three Rabbits with Flying Apsaras" and another titled "Lotus and Apsaras." The mural is unique because it is formulaic of the Northern Chinese dynasties.
