This is a superb granite carving of Jizo, based on a famous statue at the Emko-Ji Temple. Jizo's face is very expressive, with charming child-like peek-a-boo spread fingers. The statue, while compact, is weighty and substantial with a smooth (but not overly-polished surface). For those who love Jizo, this is one of the best commercially available representations that really seems to capture the feeling of the more childlike Jizo statues in Japan.
